Warwick Anti-Racism President & Socs Officer candidate, advocating acid attacks and making death threats to Warwick students
Ademola Anjorin, President of Warwick Anti-Racism Society, Public Relations Officer of Warwick Anti-Sexism and Societies Officer candidate, has been found to have made several disturbing tweets (find at the bottom), where he has advocated acid attacks and seemingly argued for the murder of fellow Warwick Students, in a collection of tweets sent to The Warwick Eye.

In one tweet, Mr. Anjorin argued
that a university student in the United States should have poured acid over
Republican-supporting students rather than the milk she threw over them during a heated public debate. This tweet comes in the context of the acid attack
crime wave the United Kingdom is currently facing, with London and elsewhere in
the county facing a sharp rise in acid attacks.
And in another tweet, Mr. Anjorin
told unspecified persons to enjoy their freedom of speech, before he and others
killed them. And it would appear this was in direct reference to the Anne Marie Waters talk and those that organised it, since the previous tweet from that same day,
referred to the Free Speech argument made by some about the planned talk.
Tweets of this nature from Mr.
Anjorin stretch back for months. However, just in the past fortnight, Larissa
Kennedy, Education Officer, SU Presidential candidate and friend to Mr. Anjorin,
tweeted that "The world needs to protect Ademola (@adeofthemoon) at all
costs. What a beautiful, caring, insightful soul...". We have received no
comment as to whether these are still Miss. Kennedy's views after she was
recounted the tweets-in-question.

In the Eye's view, these tweets
aroused such an immense sense of revulsion when we combed through them. That the idea
that a Warwick Student could say these things unabashedly, with senior members
of Warwick Student Union watching on, is completely abhorrent. The Eye urges either
the University of Warwick and/or Warwick Student Union to investigate these tweets immediately and condemn those who are supportive of such vile statements.
Ademola Anjorin was reached for
comment regarding the tweets, The Warwick Eye was then subsequently blocked.
Larissa Kennedy has also been
reached for comment.

Education Officer, Larissa Kennedy's public message to Ademola Anjorin |
Christ... I'm actually gobsmacked. I'm not easily shocked, and I guess I'm not surprised by this behaviour from members of a Student's Union. But this is a disturbing trend I'm seeing from a few SU's and their active members. I cannot understand the mentality that a person exercising their free speech warrants a violent response like this. UoW should really address this. I cannot imagine the SU will do anything as they may share similar views to Mr Anjorin.
ReplyDeleteTo those who think reporting this to the University and putting their position at the SU at risk is counter to my views on free speech, there is a clear cut difference here. Free speech doesn't cover advocacy of violence, which is exactly what Ademola Anjorin is doing here, assisted by people like Larissa Kennedy in essence endorsing these calls to violence.
