Following yesterday’s news story
broken by the Eye concerning the Chair of Warwick Labour, Fraser Amos,
retweeting an antisemitic tweet. An anonymous source from Warwick Labour,
speaking directly to the Eye, has confirmed plans to oust scandal-hit Chair,
Fraser Amos.

According to the source, many
members of Warwick Labour are troubled by the negative publicity generated by Mr.
Amos and its reflection on the society as a whole. This latest scandal, particularly
in the context of the national party’s issues with antisemitism, has reportedly
pushed the membership too far, and a plan has been put in place to remove Mr.
Amos as Chair as soon as possible.
In this upcoming term, members of
Warwick Labour who want to oust Mr. Amos will organise a petition to hold an
Emergency General Meeting. At this EGM, a vote will be held to remove Mr. Amos
from his position and elect someone else as Chair.
There are two admitted hurdles to
this plan, firstly, 20% of the membership will have to sign the petition to
trigger this EGM. And secondly, the vote to impeach Mr. Amos at the EGM will require
the support of two thirds of the members present at the meeting.
Though, the anonymous source
believes that both of these requirements will be achieved. Because in their opinion, there is enough support from the general membership to remove Mr. Amos as soon as the opportunity is given to them.
In the Eye’s view, the parallels between
the events at Warwick Labour and the national Party are too great to not notice.
The only question now is will Fraser Amos be able to cling to power in the face
of an organised plan to remove him or will this antisemitism scandal be his
undoing? The Eye will certainly keep you up to date on whatever the outcome.
