Breaking Lies: Student Union President furious with students after Referendum, in an expletive-filled rant

At the most recent Student Referendum (Term 1 2017-18), a motion to 'Focus on fees: End the NSS Boycott' was passed by students at Warwick.

It called for the Student Union to 'focus its time and resources on efforts other than an NSS boycott to challenge, lower, and abolish tuition fees', as the motion recognised that that Government is now reconsidering the link between 'TEF and tuition fees'.

The successful motion was proposed by SU Education Exec Chair, Alex Delameilleure, and PAIS Undergraduate SSLC Chair, Ben Hayday; both known for involvement with Warwick Labour.

Last term, a similar motion proposed by Rhal Ssan and Alex Bevis from the Warwick Tories, to end the boycott was not passed.

The Boar reported that more students voted on the motion than any other in the referendum. The motion received a total of 714 votes - with 334 in favour, 271 against and 105 abstentions; 25% more students voted in favour than against.

Warwick SU President Hope Worsdale (and SU Democracy?)
Despite campaigning against the motion, staunch-left WFFE Activist, WAC campaigner and SU President Hope Worsdale told the Boar, 'as President of the Students’ Union, I of course respect the outcome of the democratic vote on this issue'.

This turned out to be a bare-faced lie; after the election, Worsdale, had in fact called the result 'f*cking devastating', described the motion as 'sh*tty', on Facebook. The Student Union President concludes to tell supporters that 'this is where the real power lies'.

Expletive-filled rant from President Worsdale, directly contradicting her statement to the Boar (here).

The Eye wonders whether Hope Worsdale might have been telling the Boar a lie about 'respecting the outcome'? Of course, in the spirit of honest and straight-talking politics that would never happen!

We wonder what the next Student Council meeting will be like, after Worsdale accuses her fellow Council member for proposing a 'shitty' motion.

Perhaps, the SU's Democracy Exec may have to speak to Hope about her conduct, and respect for SU Democracy?
